Engineers Without Borders – India

General Guidelines For Affiliated Student Chapters

APPLICATION FORM

  1. In line with the goals and objectives of EWB-India, available in printed form and listed on the website, it is anticipated that EWB-India affiliated Student Chapters will be formed through local initiatives by students (or their teachers) in any recognized engineering educational institution in the country to carry out and further EWB-India’s mission.
  2. It will be incumbent on all Student Chapters affiliated to EWB-India to have a senior faculty member as their Faculty Advisor. The Faculty Advisor will supervise the chapter’s activities and projects and serve as the person responsible for ensuring compliance with the Terms of Agreement between EWB-India and the chapter in question.
  3. Individuals or groups of engineering students anywhere within the country, interested in starting a chapter, are invited to fill out the Application Form given below. Before approaching us you are advised to form a core group of interested members (5 or more) and list their names, specialization and particulars on your application. If possible, indicate the nature of work or projects you may be undertaking, relevant to EWB-India’s mission.
  4. No chapter bearing the name “EWB-India Student Chapter – (name of institution)” may be started without going through the process indicated in (3) above and obtaining the written consent of the President, EWB-India.
  5. Any group intending to start a chapter will be required to enter into a formal Agreement (a form for which will be sent by post after your application is accepted). This Agreement will cover such issues as (i) The responsibility of the Faculty Advisor for ensuring compliance with the Terms of Agreement. (ii) The chapter may have a body of members and shall charge membership fees as given in How to Become a Member. (iii) The chapter will be required to send quarterly reports to EWB-India on its activities and projects and semi-annual reports of all revenues and expenditures, duly signed by the Faculty Advisor. (iv) The chapter will be required to certify that no portion of funds collected from any source has been, or will be, used for any purpose other than humanitarian work, generally of (but not restricted to) an engineering nature, consistent with EWB-India’s mission.
